Q: Why is this site called Tom Smith Hearts?
A: The word heart, in the site name “Tom Smith Hearts” is used as a verb. Since I like so many things and cannot possibly narrow down my content to one subject, I have chosen to create a blog about what I like.
Q: Do you like everything you write about on your blog?
A: Well, one of the things I like is criticizing; another is hating, so I do not like everything I write about.
Q: Tom, are you a hater?
A: I’m a very passionate person.
Q; Do you always answer questions in a politically correct manner?
A: Every once in a while, when nobody is looking or listening, I sneak in a dumb comment.
Q: Are you a lover?
A: Yes.
Q: Who are you?
A: I’m going to be 100% brutally honest. I’m a bitter person. Growing up I never really was satisfied. Don’t get me wrong my home life was fantastic. I have a loving mother, a Clampett father (but who isn’t right?) an older brother who believes being nasty to siblings is more of a religion than Christianity, and a few strange animals we called pets along the way. But I just wine and moan and groan and act unhappy. It started with small things like what we were eating and where we were going. I got the nickname “Hollywood” for always making a big dramatic show about everything. I guess all kids are like that though…but I’m not a kid anymore. And…I’m still dissatisfied with the world. If there’s a complaint to be had, I have it. All the bitter, all the better. Sarcasm is a must.
The real oxymoron is that I’m a happy guy. I’ve got everything I want. I’m a student at my dream school (Emerson College) and I have a Macbook Pro. (what more does a guy need?)
I love comedy. I take pride in humor and I won’t converse without it. That’s why I hate funerals. I would be the one who gets kicked out for cracking “what’s the deal with lampshades” jokes in front of the mourning family. If you take a walk down the street with me or go out to lunch, odds are I will spend most of my oxygen criticizing. I can’t help it.
Sometimes people tell me, “how can you be so hypocritical?” because they obviously see that I’m not a perfect person, sporting my average 165 lb. 5′8″ body, and I always respond, “Why should we all go through life pretending we don’t see the obvious when we can see it, and laugh at it, and move on.”
Q: Why should we listen to you about Technology?
A: I eat breathe and sleep tech. It’s been that way since I had my first PC in 5th grade and I would wake up and print out my AOL calender before school that I had customized the night before. I am more proficient in working (literally at the workplace) with Windows, but I own a Macbook Pro and my career will be spent editing video on a Mac, so I know different subjects for each. I am a proud iPhone user and own several iPods as well. On my Mac I advocate peer to peer downloading and I tend to try two to three new apps per week. Although I am a huge fan of cleaning out my Mac once a week, limiting my apps to 25 and my backup up on my Acomdata 500gb firewire external (I need a network drive so bad). Social networking and web 2.0 take up a large chunk of my technological life. I have an Xbox360 but only pay for one game (FIFA). I do play other games either downloaded or borrowed. I have a PlayStation because I am obsessed with Final Fantasy VII-that game is my life. Most of my knowledge on a computer lies in Adobe programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Indesign, and Flash. I also have basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro and I choose Firefox over Safari. I worked part time in my hometown assisting with amateur computer problems and basic electronic assistance. Feel free to email me with any tech questions or personal opinions and I will be happy to answer them.
Q: Why should we listen to you about Politics?
A: I am open minded, but I will always give it to you straight. For instance, I tend to read all sources before choosing sides, and I rarely side with any overwhelming majority. In fact, I rarely side with anyone-I see good and bad in every situation. So please PLEASE feel free to argue with me on posts. My Italian side loves that, and who knows, you just might convince me.
Q: Why should we listen to you about Health?
A: Since June 15, 2008 I have been eating a healthy, balanced diet. It does not allow for cheating or frequent “breaks.” I’ll come out and say it: it just may be the perfect diet. I have the proof to back it up-from June 15 to today I have lost 60 pounds. I went from being clinically obese to in the best shape of my life. How did I do it? I will write this post only upon e-mail request (because I have been ostracized many times for talking too much about this).
Q: Why should we listen to you about Fitness?
A: I train twice a day, I’m currently in a cutting stage which is 8 weeks long, which means I am spending 90% of my time at the gym on the treadmill. I run 4.5 miles on even days and I do High Intensity Interval Training on odd days, in addition to a core/free weight super-set workout. I would like to say I have a clear understanding of how the body works. I plan on posting a lot of fitness articles to share what I know.
Q: Why should we listen to you about Self Motivation?
A: Health and fitness tie in to my own personal growth and motivation, it’s not easy to lose a lot of weight or get your body physically fit. It took several slumps, a few moments of deep reflection and self analysis to get where I am. I can help you. Don’t quit. Your body and your health are the most important factors determining your lifestyle.People say I look like Jim. So I made my Jim face…
Q: Why should we listen to you about Psychology? Economy? Business?
A: You shouldn’t listen to me. I have no knowledge in these areas. Will I talk about them anyway: yes.
